Dressed in their best, struggling with the gas stoves that refused to oblige thanks to the wind blowing in little garden that was their ‘kitchen’ the competitors were all enthusiasm. It was for the first time that the annual best recipe competition had been replaced with Master Chef Australia type competition where teams had to prepare dishes in given time.

The time given was not exactly a challenge and the teams were given enough time to select the ingredients, vegetables, masalas to make soups, snack and main course.

The competition organised by Sahyadri Cooperative Housing Society that houses only Maharashtrian families was a grand success thanks to the efforts of Shri and Smt Amey Tadvalkar and their team. The participants included the Shanwares, led by octogenarian Sh. Shanware, ably assisted by his wife and daughters. The teams were given names Mejvaani, Swaad, Saai.

The judges panel included celebrated judge, Machindra Kasture who worked with former President Pratibha Patil as also with the incumbent Pranab Muherjee and was recently awarded top chef of the country award by Govt. of India and food enthusiast Sushama Satokar who runs eatery Tripti Foods and is co-founder of aamchidilli.

Both the judges congratulated the participants for their excellent team work and thanked the organizers for the competition.
